Virtual Private Network providers

A Virtual Private Network, known in short as VPN, enables you to use another network in e-space. It allows you to access content from a site which is banned in the region where you stay. This access can be done in a secure manner & will hide your location when you access the content of that site. Of course, your VPN provider could still block access to a site which is considered as dangerous.

Free VPN providers
While the obvious advantage is that it is free, the downside of a free VPN provider is that it could have a slow speed or may not be as secure as a paid VPN provider.
3 free VPN providers which are considered to be stable are:
  • Proxpn.com: has a Beta version for Apple Mac
  • Gpass1.com: available only for Windows
  • Cyberghost-vpn.com: available only for Windows
Pay and use VPN providers
A paid VPN provider will generally allow you a trial version before you actually select one of its plans. Some even allow you free usage for a limited amount of data transfer & then you have to pay beyond that fixed data.
Here’s a list of paid VPN providers
  • Privatetunnel.com: It is available for both Mac OS Apple & Windows, for iPads and iPhones. The first 100MB of data transfer is free.
  • Strongvpn.com: It is available for Ma, Linux and Windows as well as iPad and iPhone. Price range begins at $7 monthly & goes up to $30. Discounts are provided for advance payments.
  • HideMyAss.com (HMA): It is available for Ma, Linux and Windows & a basic service is available for iPad. The monthly price is $11.52 & if you pay for a full 1 year in advance then you pay only $6.55 monthly.
