All about Ultrabooks

Just when everybody thought that laptops, netbooks and notebooks were the "in" thing in computing devices, along came tablets. Now while tablets are very much ruling the roost, ultrabooks have appeared to give PC tablets some competition.

What is an Ultrabook?
An ultrabook is a combo of a laptop and a tablet. That is to say, the performance of this device is similar to that of a laptop but it has the portability of a tablet.

Ultrabook Features
  • Lightweight, generally no more than 1.5kg
  • Display screen size varies between 11 inches and 13 inches
  • It works on a processor that will be the absolute latest one and not of an earlier generation

Disadvantages of an Ultrabook
  • It is not possible to upgrade the battery to a more powerful one
  • It is not possible to upgrade the RAM
  • The graphic card of an ultrabook is a low-powered one, so if you are keen on making some fancy 3G animation forget it
Advantages of an Ultrabook
  • It is just fine for your normal day-to-day computer-related work
  • It is highly suitable for people who are constantly on the go due to its lightest of light weight

Price range of Ultrabooks in India: In India, you can get an Ultrabook in the price range of Rs.56,000/- to Rs.90,000/-. They are thus far more expensive than a notebook, a netbook or a PC tablet but could be cheaper than a high-end laptop.
